Summary
Bitcoin is an innovative new subject that encompasses math, history, computer science, economics, cryptography, and entrepreneurship. Since 2009, the technological revolution of Bitcoin has captured the attention of financial institutions, media outlets, and even our current President. Even though Bitcoin is perceived as a financial vehicle, the ability to use Bitcoin as a foundation for learning other disciplines is prevalent.
As the Bitcoin ecosystem continues to grow it is our responsibility to educate the next generation. No child under the age of 11 has experienced a world without Bitcoin, with teenagers up to the age of 18 living in a Bitcoin world since they were toddlers. The promise of Bitcoin and blockchain technology to change the world rests on the shoulders of our students and Innovative Learning is here to provide that service.
Our program theme is centered around Community Development and we aim to present a real-world view of our current and future financial system. This helps our students prevent future exploitation in the form of gentrification and racial discrimination from the banking system.
Problem to Address
The COVID-19 pandemic has decreased resources and left many families unemployed. We are addressing the gap in education and funding for students in grades 6-10. The loss of income for many families has prevented them from affording afterschool and summer camp programs for their children.
In addition, students have succumb to a failure rate of 75% of classes across the board due to learning loss, lack of support and help from parents due to their lack of understanding core content in every subject.
Solution
Our solution is to provide a comprehensive summer camp that introduces Bitcoin, cryptocurrency and blockchain technology to an underrepresented community. We plan to educate students during this course and also educate the parents of the students to ensure that the information is available for every family.
Free books, learning tools and speakers will provide the foundation of the camp and we will use that to create new members of the Bitcoin community.
